There was carelessness during my entire process in attempting to rent a home through Crye Leike. I was told dogs were okay (I have a 47 pound dog). I filled out the application and wrote a check the day I toured the home. I put on the application I would not be available for move in until April 1. I was contacted a few days later to be told the owner didn't want large dogs in the home--totally fine. I was told my application would not be processed and my check would be shredded. Two days later (on either Feb 1 or 2) I am called and offered the home again because the "owners changed their mind." Okay, great. I go on to say I cannot move in until April 1 (as stated on my original application), and am told I would have to be available for February. I said thank you, but no thanks because I am in a lease until March 31. A few days later, my $25 check is cashed. I then have to contact the realtor, who apologizes and says I can come pick up a check from their office for a refund. I arrive back to their office to pick up the check. It was not left for me and the lady at the front desk (Melanie--who was extremely nice, the only reason this is a 2 star review and not a 1) says they did process my application and that's why they cashed my check, but she's looking around to see if there's any cash she can give me. While she is looking, I am trying to contact the realtor to explain. He calls and says that because they "offered" me the home (3 days after I was told I would not be offered the home, my application would not be processed and my check would be shredded) they processed my application. It does not seem like an organized place to do business. The realtor also told me he had a hard time remembering who I was because "so many people came and looked at the house." I totally understand being busy; however, simply writing down a note or calling the office would have made it very easy for all of this to be dealt with. I asked if because they processed my application (even though I do not have a way to rent this home from them) if that would be an inquiry on my credit and the realtor couldn't give me a straight answer. I will more than likely not do business with them in the future because I couldn't even be guaranteed a $25 check would be shredded.
