My family attempted to work with Keate on the sale of our business. It was a poor decision from the start. The representative we were set up with was well into his 80s. Him and the support staff at Keate lacked the savvy and professionalism that I would expect from a brokerage firm. In a 6 month exclusive contract, Keate only brought on 1 "legitimate" potential buyer. This buyer was not vetted by Keate and lacked the necessary funding. The staff at Keate made us sign NDAs and other legally binding contracts, but did not follow through on these contractual agreements themselves. When our contract expired we were happy to never speak or work with anyone at Keate Partners again. We eventually sold out business at a higher price than Keate would have negotiated and the process was easier and cheaper without them involved. I would encourage anyone selling to go with a different brokerage firm. Keate Partners LTD. caused myself, my employees, and my family stress and wasted my valuable time. I recently worked with Mike Goldstein on packaging my business for sale. The guidance he provided throughout the process has been so valuable. I just wish I met with him 3 years ago so I could have put the company in a more favorable position now, when I am ready to retire. I interviewed 3 firms in Cincinnati and chose Kaete based on their personal approach. Their communication was always timely and I definitely felt like Mike had my best interest at heart.
Keate Partners provided the guidance and advice I needed to successfully sell my business. I would highly recommend them. I never provide reviews such as this but was compelled based upon what I saw from the previous review. I wanted to let others considering buying or selling a business know that Keate Partners worked extremely well for me. They created a detailed business profile with financial analysis and reviewed with me how they calculated the ultimate valuation of my business.
I would not recommend this company. I was considering selling my business. Claimed to do a detailed financial analysis but never presented a report showing the process used or how he came up with an asking price. When I asked questions I was told, "that's the way we've always done this." Does A LOT of talking, but actually says very litte. Unless you have actually sold a business before, you will have no idea what is going on. You do all the work to create the marketing. Very old fashioned presentation. Had no idea when my business was listed, where, and how it was being marketed. Recommend a company that works to 2017 standards, not 1970!
