Brokerage Reviews

From the very first contact to completing closing and everything in between, these guys were absolutely top-notch! Their initial presentation was impressive, but yet not in a sales pitch kind of way. You could tell that they exuded experience, which was very important to me in navigating the potential sale of a very niche business yet they were still able to maintain just enough of a casual vibe and a high level of professionalism that made me comfortable. I trusted their experience from the beginning and didn’t at any point feel pressured into making this very important decision. They brought a handful of qualified buyers to the table quicker than I expected and we were able to very smoothly reach an agreement and get to closing on the early end of their initial estimated timeline. I worked primarily with Haydn throughout the experience and really couldn’t have asked for anything more from him. He was always on time with anything he said he would deliver, always kept his word through the process, was invaluable in giving guidance and opinion when needed, and went above and beyond to get everything done in the 11th hour. Mark was our senior advisor on the deal and again, everything about the experience with him was top-notch as well. I trusted in his experience, both as a broker, and as a business owner who has been through this process before and I really valued his opinions he shared with me throughout the process. I highly recommend reaching out to Viking and talking with Mark and Haydn if you are even considering listing your business for sale. It doesn’t hurt to get their professional valuation presentation on your business and see if now is the right time for you. They shared with me from the start that their success rate is much higher than the typical broker in part because they don’t take on business they don’t know for sure they can sell. If you have any interest in, maybe selling, I highly recommend reaching out. Lastly, I will add, their recommended partners (attorneys and bank) were fantastic to work with as well. If you do sell your business with Viking, definitely use their referred professionals to help get the deal done! I wish I had another business ready to sell because I’d start the process all over again right now with these guys!
We had already been contacted by the buyer when our commercial banker suggested we speak with Ben Knight from Viking’s Charleston office. Because of the complexity of our corporate and financial structure Ben proposed that his colleague, Mike Donahue of the Charlotte office, would lead the engagement. We quickly became comfortable with the expertise of the Viking team and felt that the value they placed on the business was reasonable, so the decision to work with them was easy. They reached out to a number of prospective buyers and, in the end, we sold to the organization we’d already been in contact with for well more than Viking's initial valuation. We knew the buyer but we didn’t know the potential pitfalls that could arise in such a complex transaction, which is where they really earned their fee. I highly recommend Viking Mergers & Acquisitions, whether or not you're being courted by a potential buyer.
The team at Viking takes on the complexities of selling a business for you and gets results. They created a strategy, brought multiple offers simultaneously, and gave us great options on our exit. Keenan Moran put in significant work, beyond my expectations, to get the deal done. I have sold two businesses with Viking, would do so again, and recommend them to any owner considering selling or curious about value. Thank you Keenan Moran, Jay Offerdahl, and Greg Ponder!
Although I wasn’t ready to exit my business when Mike Donahue of Viking first contacted me, he provided a valuation and continued to update it until the time was right. I had been pursued by a number of industry consolidators over the years but wasn’t comfortable going through the process without professional representation. Mike and his partner, Merrell Stout, artfully managed the transaction from end-to-end. We received three strong offers and closed some 60 days later at a price, after their fee, that far exceeded their valuation and my expectations. I cannot say enough positive things about my experience working with Mike and Merrell of Viking Mergers & Acquisitions.
I had been in touch with Viking for years before I decided to sell my business in 2021. Leading up to that they were in regular contact with me and offered great advice to help grow the business; so, when it came time to exit, not only did I trust them to handle the transaction, but the price was much higher than it otherwise would have been. Fortunately, when my original advisor had to step away for a medical emergency after going under contract, Mike Donahue and Dan Wilson immediately stepped in, and from there they managed the deal seamlessly through to closing. Their breadth of business experience and expertise in managing the details of the transaction were invaluable, and we had a great outcome. Whether you are considering an exit in the near future or you want to maximize your value over the long-term, I highly recommend Mike Donahue and Dan Wilson of Viking Mergers and Acquisitions.
